A shoe shelf with an integrated den. My dog loves to sleep on top of my sneakers or under my bed — a low-roofed structure gives him the comfort and security he was already looking for.

Context

For my best friend.

My dog loves to sleep either on top of my sneakers or underneath my bed. A den-like structure with a low roof gives dogs a feeling of comfort and security.

The goal of this project was to design and fabricate a shoe-shelf bench with an integrated space for my best friend to rest.

Making

Plywood, glue, and patience.

The piece was built from plywood, wood glue, and brad nails — a den-low roof on one side, open shoe storage on the other, balanced on a single bench profile.

Doghaus — plywood components in the workshop
Stacked plywood profiles on the bench, mid-fabrication.

Result

Two functions, one quiet object.

Shoes go where they belong; the dog gets a den at floor level. A single piece of furniture that earns its footprint twice over.
